Why exercise with The FIT Movement in pregnancy?
Whether you’re already active, or perhaps new to exercise, your pregnancy is an ideal time to focus on adopting a more healthy lifestyle for you + your baby.
And, if you’re wanting time to focus just on you, then our 1:1 pregnancy service will fit the bill.
When you’re preparing for motherhood, you want to ensure that you’re doing all that you can to get your body fit, strong + ready for the exciting journey ahead.
Led by an experienced, fully qualified pre + postnatal instructor, our FIT Mama Pregnancy 1:1 sessions provide specialised modern antenatal exercise that’s bespoke to you + your pregnancy needs – whether that’s starting an exercise program, maintaining your fitness levels…. and if you wish to continue lifting weights (good on you!), we can adapt what you normally do throughout your trimesters.
Enrolling in our 1:1 sessions can help you:
- Maintain good fitness + energy levels as part of a healthy pregnancy
- Stay active to cope with the physical demands of labour
- Maintain a healthy weight during your pregnancy
- Reduce the risk of gestational diabetes
- Improve your sleep quality
How are the FIT Mama Pregnancy 1:1 sessions different?
As with everything we create, this is a truly holistic pregnancy program to serve you and your unique pregnancy needs. It’s based upon The FIT Movement’s 4 integrated elements of flex, move, nourish + restore, which form the foundations of all of our programs.
Although each 1:1 pregnancy session is unique to you, it will typically include:
- Simple release + mobilisation techniques to help you relieve those aches + tension hotspots that you can also practise at home
- Gentle but effective functional exercises that mirror your everyday movements to get you fitter + stronger with an active birth in mind
- Protocols that help you develop an optimally integrated + functioning core + pelvic floor during pregnancy + beyond
- Optimal nutrition strategies to get you match fit for motherhood

Wondering how this works?
Enrol in our 6-week 1:1 program and here’s what you get.
- A thorough personalised assessment – a complete assessment of where you are in terms of your pregnancy, fitness and energy levels. We’ll also consider your physical + emotional wellbeing, plus nutritional needs (equally important), so I can understand what you need support with most
- 5 weekly sessions that are designed to support you in pregnancy week on week
- Incorporation of appropriate abdominal + pelvic floor work for those essential muscles
- Support via the private client Facebook group
- Most importantly, an experienced antenatal coach to train you in a safe + effective way
Please also refer to the FAQs at the bottom of this page.
What happens next?
Once you’ve made payment, you’ll be directed to the online pre-screening health questionnaire to complete to ensure that this program is right for you. This must be submitted before your first session.
I will then confirm your space by email, and we’ll arrange a mutually convenient time to discuss by phone your online pre-screening questionnaire responses so that I can tailor the 1:1 program to your specific needs.
FIT Mamas Pregnancy class is a lovely exercise class in a relaxed environment. Work at your level and meet other mums-to-be. I always had a good night sleep after these classes which is difficult in the third trimester!Sarah
When can I start?
You are welcome to join us after your first scan, subject to completion of the online pre-screening health questionnaire.
How long do I have to use the sessions?
You’ll get the best results if you can commit to a weekly session. However, things do crop up, so you have a “flex” period in which to use the sessions, so you can skip a week or two if you need to.
You have 8 weeks from the start to use your 6-session pack and 16 weeks from the start to use your 12-session pack to use all your sessions.
What if I need to cancel a session?
We ask for 24 hours notice of any cancellation and will look to re-book your missed session at a mutually convenient time as soon as possible. If less than 24 hours notice is given, we suggest you treat it as one of your “flex” weeks so that you don’t forfeit the session (see above).
I don’t have time
I understand. I truly do, having been there myself. You’re busy and rushing around to get everything ready for baby. But, prioritising time for your own your self-care is important. When you have time for yourself, feel energised and ready to take on the day, you feel much stronger when it comes to taking care of those that need you most. These programs aren’t intended to leave you drained. They’re designed with you in mind. All that’s required is you give each session your best effort on the day.
What do I need to wear?
You will need a good fitting sports bra and well-fitting trainers (a must!).
As mums-to-be often get warm quickly during exercise, you’ll probably want to wear a comfortable t-shirt and either cycling shorts or cropped leggings.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring water to keep you hydrated during class. You may also wish to bring a healthy snack for afterwards.
What if I have unused sessions due to baby’s arrival?
If you have any unused sessions due to baby’s arrival partway through the booked sessions, you can use these sessions towards your postnatal recovery. Please note: these need to be taken within 4 months from baby’s due date.
What areas do you cover?
I work with clients from my home studio and PB Suite in Teignmouth and at the Barefoot Physio Clinic in central Exeter. Alternatively, if you’re in Teignmouth, Shaldon, Bishopsteignton or Dawlish, it may be possible to book a home visit by separate arrangement.
Got further questions? Please contact Wendy at The FIT Movement here.
Appointments take place at The Barefoot Physio Clinic, 15 Bartholomew Street East, Exeter, EX4 3BG and PB Suite in Teignmouth.
